The piece is inspired by “Femme de Venise IV” (1956), one of the iconic sculptures by the Swiss artist Alberto Giacometti.

With a height of 41 cm, this patinated bronze sculpture is an ode to Giacometti’s unique formal language – the combination of fragility, strength, and humanity in a single form. The slender, elongated female figure stands on its narrow plinth as a silent witness to introspection and existence. The intensely worked surface captures the light in a way that enhances the expressive texture and suggests a figure slowly emerging from the material itself.

The original Femme de Venise series was created by Giacometti for the Venice Biennale in 1956 and consists of nine female figures, all modeled during the same period and with the same armature. Each sculpture embodies Giacometti’s quest for the essence of the human form – powerful, isolated, and timeless.

In this interpretation by Driessen, that same sense of presence and mystery comes to life. His work is not a simple copy, but a tribute where craftsmanship, art-historical knowledge, and deep admiration for Giacometti’s oeuvre converge.

An exclusive artwork that enriches any interior with timeless elegance and character.

Femme Venice by R.J.C.
